Cox’s Bazar Government College Celebrates Victory Day
Cox’s Bazar Government College celebrated the Great Victory Day on 16 December 2025 with due dignity and solemnity through a day-long programme. The celebrations began at sunrise with the hoisting of the national flag and paying due respect to it.
At 9:30 am, the national anthem was performed, followed by a colourful Victory Rally at 9:40 am. The rally started from the college campus and passed through the Link Road section of the Chattogram–Cox’s Bazar Highway.
At 10:00 am, floral wreaths were placed at the college Shaheed Minar in remembrance of the martyrs of the মহান Liberation War of 1971. Representatives from the college administration, teachers’ council, Rover Scouts, BNCC (Naval Wing), Red Crescent, various student organisations, honours departments, student hostels, and staff members took part in the tribute.
A discussion meeting, cultural programme and prize-giving ceremony were held at 10:30 am in Room No. 204 of the administrative building. The Principal of the college, Professor Md. Amirul Anwar Chowdhury, attended the programme as the chief guest. In his speech, he said, “Victory is our pride and inspiration. We achieved this independence through the supreme sacrifice of millions of martyrs of the Liberation War. On this day, let us pledge to uphold the spirit of the Liberation War and contribute from our respective positions towards building a developed, prosperous and non-communal Bangladesh.”
The Vice-Principal, Professor Md. Ohidul Islam, and the Secretary of the Teachers’ Council, Muhammad Ullah, spoke as special guests. The programme was presided over by Kazi Abul Kasem, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Zoology and Convener of the Martyred Intellectuals Day and Victory Day Celebration Committee. The event was conducted by Sheikh Didarul Alam, Associate Professor of the Department of Accounting.
On behalf of the teachers, Professor Mofidul Alam, Assistant Professor of the Department of History Md. Jahangir Alam, and Lecturer of the Department of Mathematics Taslima delivered speeches at the discussion meeting.
After the discussion, a delightful cultural programme was presented, followed by the distribution of prizes among the winners of various competitions organised on the occasion of Victory Day.
At 12:00 noon, a friendly football match was held at the college playground between the champions of the “Principal Cup Inter-Department Football Tournament,” the Department of Economics, and the Higher Secondary team, which created great excitement among the spectators.
The day-long programme concluded with a doa and milad mahfil after Zuhr prayers at the college Jame Mosque.
