Sujan’s Roundtable Meeting on Fair Elections and Democratic Transition
A roundtable meeting on fair elections and civic thinking in democratic transition has been held in Chapainawabganj.
The roundtable meeting was organized by Sujan-Citizens for Good Governance, Chapainawabganj District Committee and was held at 9:30 am on Saturday (13 December 2025) at the Upazila Parishad Hallroom of Sadar Upazila.
The meeting, organized under the theme of ‘Aware, organized and vocal people are the protectors of democracy’, discussed various aspects of electoral system reform, democratic transition, civic responsibility and establishment of good governance.
Under the chairmanship of Sujan-Citizens for Good Governance Chapainawabganj District Branch President Md. Aslam Kabir, General Secretary and Senior Journalist Md. Monowar Hossain Jewel presented a written statement on fair elections and democratic transition, civic thinking.
The main speaker was Sujan – Citizens for Good Governance Rajshahi Divisional Coordinator Md. Mizanur Rahman. In addition, the President of the District Bar Association Md. Adv. Ishaq, Maulana Md. Muktar Ali, Teacher Shah Nazim, Contractor Md. Sajib, Sumaiya Islam, etc. presented their opinions in the round table meeting.
The speakers at the meeting said that democracy cannot be institutionalized without fair and participatory elections.
For this, the speakers considered it important to ensure the independence of the Election Commission, political reforms and the conscious role of citizens.
