APS to the Chief Adviser, Sabbir Ahmad, inaugurated two major development projects in Baliadanga, Chapainawabganj on the same day. On Friday afternoon, he officially launched the construction work of the Baliadanga Water Treatment Plant and the Slope Protection and Facility Development project on the left bank of the Mahananda River.

The inaugural ceremony, held at the premises of the Baliadanga Union Parishad, was presided over by Abu Hena Md. Ataul Haque Komol, Chairman of Baliadanga Union and President of the Baliadanga Rural Water Society. Also present were Executive Engineer Amit Kumar Sarkar of the Department of Public Health Engineering and Executive Engineer Md. Ahsan Habib of the Bangladesh Water Development Board.

Speaking as the chief guest, Sabbir Ahmad said, “The government is sincerely working to reduce people’s suffering and ensure modern facilities. The two projects inaugurated today will play a vital role in improving the water supply system and preventing river erosion.”

He added, “These projects are essential for sustainable development. Once properly implemented, they will open a new horizon in improving the quality of life for the residents of Baliadanga and surrounding areas.”

According to the Department of Public Health Engineering, the construction of the Baliadanga Water Treatment Plant under the Rural Piped Water Supply Scheme will cost Tk 6,48,45,050. Once operational, it will provide safe and clean drinking water to the local population, significantly contributing to public health improvement.

Meanwhile, according to the Water Development Board, the Slope Protection and Facility Development work on the left bank of the Mahananda River will cost Tk 1,94,70,053. Upon completion, the riverbank areas will be protected from erosion, and essential infrastructure development in the region will be enhanced.

Local representatives, engineers, and residents expressed joy at the inauguration of these much-anticipated development works.
