The ongoing police operations in the Gorjania-Kachhapiya area of Ramu are breaking the long-standing hold of terrorists and smuggling rings. Locals claim that the criminals are fleeing, and after many days they can breathe a sigh of relief. And Additional Superintendent of Police (DSB) of the district police Alok Biswas believes that “the terrorists have been forced to leave the area due to the strict stance.”
Operations in phases, criminal networks are breaking The police, led by the newly-in-charge Inspector Shovan Kumar Saha of the Gorjania police outpost, have been conducting operations in the hideouts of known terrorists in Barabil, Thimchari, Thoangakata, Balubasa, Achartali and Dochhari areas for several days.
Local sources said that several terrorists and smugglers have left their homes fearing arrest and have taken refuge in the hilly roads and border areas. The illegal cattle markets in Garjnia-Kachhpia were a major source of income for the smuggling gangs. These markets have been completely closed due to continuous police operations. This has weakened the cattle smuggling route and the local criminal gangs are under financial pressure. It was learnt from talking to local residents that: “There was a fear of going out after evening, looting and extortion were regular on the streets. After the ongoing police operation, the situation has now changed. The criminals are no longer able to roam openly.” Many believe that if the police continue with this strict stance, the area could become crime-free permanently. Additional Superintendent of Police (DSB) Alok Biswas told Daily Morning Glory- “Due to the strict stance of the law enforcement agencies and the active operation of the new IC of the Garjnia police outpost, terrorists and smugglers are no longer able to survive in the area. They have been forced to flee. Peace has now started returning to Garjnia-Kachhpia.” He added- “This operation will continue. No criminal will be spared.”
Investigation reveals: Beginning of change in long-standing crime base Investigation reveals that this area has been used as a route for terrorist gangs, cattle smuggling, smuggling and drug transportation for a long time. By exploiting the hilly areas and the risky routes adjacent to the border, criminals were able to repeatedly evade arrest. There is now a look of relief on the faces of the people of Garjnia-Kachhpia. Police say-the operation will not stop; Rather, it will be strengthened so that no terrorist or smuggler can return and build a network again. In the words of Additional Superintendent of Police Alok Biswas, “Peace is returning, we are uncompromising to maintain this peace.”
