A 5year-6-month-old child named Bushra, suffering from a congenital heart defect, has finally received hope for life-saving treatment. An NGO has taken responsibility for her medical care following the dedicated efforts of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Nilufa Yasmin Chowdhury.
On 17 November, Bushra’s mother visited the Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila complex seeking assistance for her daughter’s critical treatment.
According to family sources, Bushra has a hole in her heart and requires surgery costing approximately 3–4 lakh taka. Her father, a farmer, has been struggling to support the medical expenses. The family previously lost another daughter in 2024 due to the same heart condition, as they could not afford treatment at that time.
Upon hearing the plea, Cox’s Bazar Sadar UNO Nilufa Yasmin Chowdhury comforted the mother, saying, “Just keep praying. InshaAllah, I will do my best to arrange the necessary treatment for your child.”
For the next 10 days, the UNO tirelessly contacted various individuals, institutions, and NGOs. Eventually, an NGO stepped forward and agreed to cover all medical expenses, ensuring Bushra’s surgery at the National Heart Foundation Hospital in Dhaka.
The Sadar UNO stated, “There are several other service-seekers in similar situations. With faith in Almighty Allah, I am trying my best to arrange proper treatment for them as well.”
With this support, Bushra’s family now sees renewed hope for her survival.
