Upazila Administration Inspects Various DDM Projects in Ramu

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Erfanul Haque Chowdhury has inaugurated the road development project under the Department of Disaster Management (DDM) at Bougatha in Eidgar Union of Ramu upazila in Cox’s Bazar.
On Tuesday (25 November), he spent the entire day inspecting various educational institutions, Kacchapiya and Eidgar Union Parishads, Eidgar and Garjoniya markets, several ongoing development project sites, polling centers for the upcoming election, and the erosion-affected areas along the Bankkhali River in the Garjoniya region.

To mark the inauguration, more than 500 betel nut saplings were planted along both sides of the Bougatha DDM road.

During the inauguration ceremony, UNO Erfanul Haque Chowdhury stated,“Once the 111 adopted projects for rural infrastructure repair and maintenance are successfully implemented, Ramu’s communication network, educational and religious institutions, and overall economic activities will experience significant improvement. The Bougatha DDM road development project will play a groundbreaking role in easing longstanding public suffering.”

Upazila Project Implementation Officer (PIO) Debesh Chandra Das said the project was undertaken to enhance road connectivity between Bougatha Bazar and Natun Para village. Upon implementation, nearly 200 families from the two villages will directly benefit.
As it is the only road connecting Bougatha with Eidgar Bazar, daily movement for thousands of residents will become easier, alongside improved transportation facilities for agricultural products.

According to the Ramu PIO office,For the fiscal year 2025–26,Under the Kabikha–KabitA program, 38 projects have been approved with an allocation of Tk 204,97,688.61,

Under the TR program, 73 projects have been taken up with an allocation of Tk 164,65,574.46.

These projects include HBB and CC road construction, drains, bridges, culverts, pond embankment development, and infrastructure improvement in various educational and religious institutions.

Local conscious citizens remarked that planting over 500 betel nut trees along the Bougatha road will bring multi-dimensional benefits—from environmental balance and beautification to long-term economic gain.

The upazila administration has stated that all projects will be completed promptly and maintaining quality, with regular field-level monitoring and absolute transparency.
