Public hearing on water rights held in Paikgacha Upazila
A public hearing on water rights has been held in Paikgacha Upazila. The public hearing was organized to highlight the water, sanitation and climate-related challenges of the people in coastal climate-vulnerable areas, establish a direct dialogue between the people and the service providers, and incorporate the opinions received in future planning and budget formulation.
The event was organized on Wednesday morning at the Paikgacha Upazila Parishad auditorium with the support of Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation Bangladesh and the initiative of the ACCESS project of the non-governmental development organization DORP.
Upazila Executive Officer Mahera Nazneen was present as the chief guest on the event.
Upazila Secondary Education Officer Shahjahan Ali Sheikh, Acting UP Chairman Sheikh Khorsheduzzan, UP Secretary Md. Rashed Iqbal, DCH, chairmen of various unions, administrative officers, WASH Budget Monitoring Club, Ma Sangsad and members of the Health Village Party.
The participants in the public hearing presented important opinions and questions on various problems related to water and sanitation and the necessary actions.
Among them were – President of the Upazila WASH Budget Monitoring Club, Assistant Professor GMM Azaharul Islam, Mita Rani Das, Purna Chandra Mondal, Rezaul Karim, Khanjahan Ali, Ayub Ali, Liltu Rani Mondal, Ima Khanam, Nazmun Nahar Iti and others.
