Questions about the quality of the construction of the bridge by the Water Development Board in Netrakona
The construction of a bridge at a cost of 2.36 crore taka is underway under the Water Development Board in the Isabpur Paler Ghat area of Purbadhola upazila of the district. A contractor named Pritam Enterprise Md. Saiful Islam is doing this work. Locals have complained about the construction of this bridge, and various questions have been raised about the quality and time management of the construction work.
Among them, the bridge has lost its fitness due to the soil being lifted by itself. It is learned that the soil has been lifted by installing a dredger on the instructions of the contractor. Although the deadline for this project has been extended several times, the work has not been completed yet. There is dissatisfaction among the locals about the quality of the stone, sand and other materials used in the construction work. In addition, complaints have been received about laxity in the casting and finishing work. In this regard, Netrokona Water Development Board Engineer Md. Sakhawat Hossain said that those who have excavated the soil of the bridge themselves will have to fill it.
We have ordered to work according to the rules. If there is any defect, it will be verified and necessary measures will be taken. On the other hand, he added that the work is still ongoing, we are regularly monitoring it. Steps will be taken to ensure proper completion of the work. The locals expect that if this bridge built with government funds is completed in a quality manner, it will play a major role in the transportation and economic development of the area.
