Indian cows, Phencidyl, Iscaf syrup and marijuana seized in special operation by 15 BGB at the border

As part of the ongoing anti-smuggling and anti-narcotics operations in the border area under the responsibility of Lalmonirhat Battalion (15 BGB), special patrol teams of various BOPs conducted 05 separate operations based on intelligence information and seized Indian cows, Phencidyl, Iscaf syrup and marijuana. In these operations, BGB presented evidence of their unwavering position in border security and anti-narcotics operations. On Monday (November 24), at approximately 12:30 am, while patrolling in the Kumartari area (Thana-Aditamari, District-Lalmonirhat) of Mogalhat BOP, some smugglers with cows tried to enter Bangladesh from the Indian border side, when the BGB patrol team challenged them. At that time, the smugglers fled after abandoning the cows. 08 Indian cows were seized from the scene.
In a separate operation at 10:50 PM on the same night at the same place, the patrol team challenged the smugglers when their movements seemed suspicious. When they left the goods and fled, 70 bottles of Indian Eskaf syrup were recovered from there. Later, at approximately 12:20 PM on the same night, when the smugglers fled, 15 kg of Indian marijuana was recovered from the goods they had left behind.
On the other hand, on 24 November 2025, at 6:30 AM, the patrol team challenged the smugglers in the Khamarbhati (Thana-Hatibandha and District-Lalmonirhat) area under the jurisdiction of Jhaurani BOP, and they fled. 67 bottles of Indian Phensidyl and 99 bottles of Eskaf syrup were seized from the scene. On the same day, at 3:30 am, 01 Indian cow was seized in another operation conducted in North Amjhole (Thana-Hatibandha and District-Lalmonirhat) of Banchowki BOP area.
The commander of Lalmonirhat Battalion (15 BGB) informed that 09 Indian cows were recovered, with an estimated market value of 6,45,000/- Taka, 169 bottles of Indian Eskaf syrup, with a Caesar value of 67,600/- Taka, 67 bottles of Indian Phensidyl, with a Caesar value of 26,800/- Taka and 15 kg of Indian marijuana, with a Caesar value of 52,500/- Taka. The total Caesar value is 7 lakh 91 thousand 9 hundred Taka. The process of identifying the smugglers involved in this incident and taking legal action against them is underway. Lalmonirhat Battalion (15 BGB) Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Mehedi Imam, PSC said, “BGB is always alert and ready to keep the youth of the country free from drugs. Intelligence surveillance and patrolling activities have been further increased in sensitive border areas to prevent smuggling and drug trafficking. He also called on the local people to cooperate in preventing smuggling and drug trafficking and assured that the identities of those providing confidential information would be kept completely confidential. The bravery, quick decision-making and strategic skills of BGB in this successful operation deserve praise. This is an important step towards building a drug-free Bangladesh.
