A youth named Jibon (22) was stabbed to death in Pabna over a previous dispute. The murder took place near the Calico Cotton Mill on Friday (November 21) at around 10:30 pm. The deceased Jibon is the son of Sujan from Rajapur village in Dogachhi union of Pabna Sadar upazila. Police and local sources said that the deceased Jibon group and the Sweet group of the same area were in a dispute over a carrom game. During the Islamic Jalsa held at the Jahirpur Madrasa ground in Dogachhi union of Sadar upazila, an argument and a fight broke out between them again. Although the matter was resolved verbally at that time, at one stage of the fight between the two groups around 10 pm, Sweet stabbed Jibon in the throat with a sharp knife he had and fled.
Later, when Jibon was rescued and taken to the hospital, the doctor on duty declared him dead. The agitators then vandalized and set fire to the houses and shops of those involved in the incident. Later, the fire service brought the fire under control. In this regard, Pabna Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdus Salam said that the incident occurred due to a previous dispute. Efforts are underway to arrest those involved in the incident. No one has filed a written complaint yet. Action will be taken if a complaint is received. On Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 4 pm, the locals have formed a human band to demand justice.
