Drug smuggler with 94 thousand yaba arrested in Teknaf
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Teknaf Battalion (2 BGB) has arrested three drug smugglers with 94 thousand yaba in a 16-hour sting operation in the Naf River and Jaliardwip areas of Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar.
In the early hours of November 21, BGB identified two suspects who were trying to enter Bangladesh by crossing the Naf River with the help of sophisticated technology. At that time, Md. Ibrahim (18) was arrested with 44 thousand yaba from the middle river. When the remaining two escaped to Keora forest, a combing search was conducted across the island. Later, Md. Junayed (15) and Abdur Razzak (20) were arrested.
According to their confession, 50 thousand yaba pills were recovered buried underground. On the same night, during a search at the check post at Habirchhara Bridge on Teknaf Marine Drive, Md. Arif (25) was arrested with 120 pieces of yaba hidden inside a motorcycle.
Commander Lt. Col. Ashikur Rahman PSC said that BGB is working with the utmost professionalism to suppress all cross-border crimes including drugs and human trafficking. Since January 2025, (BGB 2) has arrested a total of 123 suspects, rescued 285 people, and seized various types of drugs and goods worth 174 crore 17 lakh 24 thousand 5 hundred 46 taka.
