Former Additional DIG of Bogura Police Hamidul Alam Milon has been sent to jail on charges of fraud by promising to sell a flat.
On Monday, he appeared in the Bogura Senior Judicial Magistrate Court-2 and applied for bail through his lawyer.
After the hearing, learned Judge Mehedi Hasan rejected his bail and ordered him to be sent to jail. There is an arrest warrant against his wife Shahzadi Alam Lipi in the same case. Currently, he (Lipi) is absconding. Police Inspector Shahidul Islam, who was on duty at the court, confirmed the above information to journalists.
He (Shahidul) said that former Additional DIG Hamidul Alam Milon has been sent to jail on the orders of the court. The case alleged that Hamidul Alam Milon and his wife were involved in the housing business in Bogura city. The plaintiff in the case, Zahidur Rahman Tofa, cheated him by not handing over the flat to him even after purchasing it from them. For this reason, he filed a case in the court.
It is worth noting that in 2023, former Additional DIG of Police Hamidul Alam Milon took leave citing illness and actively participated in the parliamentary election campaign of his wife Shahzadi Alam Lipi in Bogura-1 (Sariakandi-Sonatala) constituency.
After the investigation by the Police Headquarters proved the allegations, he was initially suspended. Later, he was sent on compulsory retirement in September this year.
