Teachers of Cox’s Bazar Government College, a traditional educational institution in southern Chittagong, observed the ‘No Promotion No Work’ program on Sunday (November 16).
The program was held in front of the administrative building of the college since morning.
Teachers of the BCS General Education Cadre Lecturers’ Council of Cox’s Bazar Government College participated in the program.
The speakers said that they will continue the ‘No Promotion No Work’ program until the notification (GO) for the promotion of eligible lecturers of the 32nd to 37th batches of BCS General Education Cadre to the post of Assistant Professor is issued.
They also said that for the last 7-8 years, despite fulfilling the qualifications, they have been deprived of promotion for unknown reasons.
This is not only frustrating the teachers, but also affecting the educational environment.
At this time, Assistant Professor of Physics Department Mohammad Abul Kashem and many others expressed solidarity with the program.
The teachers believe that if fair promotions are implemented, they will be able to teach in the classroom with more sincerity.
They also announced to refrain from all administrative work, including boycotting teaching, until their demands are met.
