Farmer’s 5 cows stolen in pickup truck in Sreepur

A gruesome theft occurred in two houses in Shirishguri village of Maona union in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur. On the same night, 5 cows were stolen by breaking the lock of the cowshed of farmer Abdul Kashem of Bartopa (Patharpara) village. These thefts occurred on Sunday (November 9) night.
On Sunday (November 9) night, a theft occurred in the house of Ali Akbar, BNP member of Maona union, son of deceased Shahab Uddan, in Shirishguri village. A group of thieves broke the lock of the house and entered the house and took away cash, gold ornaments and valuables.
That night, a theft also occurred in the house of Raisul, son of deceased Abul Hossain of the same village.
The thieves broke the lock of the door and entered the house and escaped with cash, clothes and other goods.
On the other hand, a group of thieves broke the lock of the cowshed of farmer Abdul Kashem in Sreepur, Gazipur and took away five cows in a pickup truck in the dark of night. The five cows were worth about 6 lakh taka. Monday (November 10), the theft took place at around 4 am at the farmer’s house adjacent to the Bartopa Printers factory in Bartopa (Patharpara) village of Maona Union of the upazila.
Farmer Abdul Kashem is the son of the deceased Abdul Malek of Bartopa (Patharpara) village. When he woke up again at around 4:30 am, he went out and saw that not a single cow was in the cowshed.
Among the stolen cows, there were 3 cows worth 3.5 lakh taka and 2 bulls worth 2.5 lakh taka.
Ruhul Amin, president of Ward No. 3 BNP of Maona Union, said that 5 cows were stolen from the house of farmer Abdul Kashem in the early hours of the morning. It is a very sad incident. Such thefts in pickup trucks happen occasionally.
The police administration needs to increase its vigilance at night to prevent cow theft. Mizanur Rahman, in-charge of Chakpara Police Camp under Sreepur Police Station, said that the police visited the farmer’s house as soon as the information was received. If the aggrieved farmer files a complaint, legal action will be taken after investigation. Various steps are being taken to track down the gang of thieves.
