Human chain and protest demanding change of BNP candidate in Brahmanbaria-5 constituency
Local BNP leaders and activists have formed a human chain and protested demanding change of BNP’s declared candidate in Brahmanbaria-5 (Nabinagar) constituency in the upcoming 11th National Assembly elections. The program was held on Sunday (November 9) afternoon from Aliabad village of the upazila sadar to Bangra Bazar of Nabinagar upazila on the Nabinagar Companyganj road (10 kilometers long). The program was organized by supporters of Kazi Nazmul Hossain Taposh, the BNP’s nominated candidate for the 11th National Assembly elections, the District BNP’s Economic Affairs Secretary and BNP’s nomination aspirant for the 11th National Assembly elections. In addition to thousands of local leaders and activists from 21 unions and a municipality, the general public and hundreds of women in the area took part in the human chain, standing on both sides of the Nabinagar Companyganj road with banner festoons in their hands. Participating in the human chain, district BNP member Abu Sayed said that the BNP candidate for Brahmanbaria-5 did not reflect the expectations of leaders and activists and the general public. Abdul Mannan was absent from the campaign in the national elections held in the past 8th, 9th and 11th years and did not do any work for the paddy sheaf symbol and did not even go to the center to vote. He also said that the people of Nabinagar have already rejected the announced candidate. District BNP member Md. Hazrat Ali said, the announcement of the BNP party candidate in Nabinagar has created extreme disappointment among the party leaders and activists and the general public. The party leaders and activists have only one demand, that the announced candidate be changed, the popularity of the field be checked and the name of BNP’s nominated candidate, Kazi Nazmul Hossain Taposh, who stood by the party’s leaders and activists in difficult times and was nominated in the 11th National Parliament election, be given. Otherwise, it will be difficult for BNP to win this seat. He also said, we will continue our peaceful program until the nomination is changed. Former Mayor Mohammad Mainuuddin Ahmed said, no BNP candidate has yet been prepared to replace Kazi Nazmul Hossain Taposh in this seat.
Our demand is that the announced nomination be changed immediately after reconsideration and accurate information about popularity and Kazi Nazmul Hossain Taposh be given the name.
It is worth noting that the name of Nabinagar Upazila BNP President Abdul Mannan has been announced as a possible BNP candidate in Brahmanbaria-5 seat.
