A couple has been arrested with 12 kg of marijuana in a special operation by RAB-15 in Ramu, Cox’s Bazar.

RAB conducted the operation in Amtalia Para on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway in the Ramu Football Ground area on Saturday (November 8) afternoon.

RAB said that 12 kg of marijuana was recovered after searching the bags of a Star Line Paribahan passenger couple at a check post set up based on a secret tip-off.

The arrested are Md. Rabiul Hossain (28) and his wife Rehela Akhter (19) of Parania Para in PMkhali Union of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila.

During initial interrogation, they admitted that they had been involved in the sale of marijuana for a long time and used to supply drugs to fugitive drug dealer Yunus.

RAB-15 Assistant Director (Law and Media) A. M. Faruk said that legal action is underway against the arrested couple along with the recovered drugs.
