Party leaders and activists held a protest march and rally by displaying black flags demanding the nomination of Professor Shahidul Alam, a member of the BNP National Executive Committee, and the cancellation of Kazi Alauddin’s nomination in Satkhira-3 (Kaliganj-Assasuni) constituency.
On Thursday (November 6), at 4 pm, a large number of leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated organizations started a protest march with black flags in their hands from the Upazila BNP office adjacent to Dakbangla intersection. The procession circled various roads and a rally was held at Tarali Chow-Rasta intersection adjacent to the North Kaliganj Bus Terminal.
At this time, former Upazila BNP student affairs secretary and UP chairman Jahangir Alam, Nalta UP chairman Azizur Rahman Par, Jagannath University Chhatra Dal co-president Ibrahim Kabir Mithu, Nalta Union BNP president Kismatul Bari, Upazila Jubo Dal member secretary Sheikh Abdul Aziz, Nalta Union BNP co-organizing secretary Ayub Hossain, and some grassroots leaders and activists of the party spoke.
The speakers said that instead of nominating the leader of the masses, Dr. Shahidul Alam, a much less popular person has been nominated by BNP for Satkhira-3 constituency. This is not only unacceptable for the party leaders and activists, but also for the people of this region. Dr. Kazi Alauddin’s nomination was canceled. Demanding the nomination of Shahidul Alam, they said that a series of programs including hartal, blockade, human chain, protest procession, protest rally, hunger strike with shroud will be held until the candidate is changed.
Incidentally, immediately after the names of the nominees were announced on Monday, there was a protest rally at night, a half-day hartal in Nalta from Tuesday morning, a highway blockade, a protest procession and rally in the upazila headquarters in the afternoon, and the largest human chain program in history was held on Wednesday by party leaders and activists from different classes and professions.
