In the interest of the public, in a joint drive by Kotalipara Upazila Executive Officer Sagufta Haque, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Masum Billah and Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer SM Shahajahan Siraj, illegally constructed dams were removed in front of the fish farms in Tarail of Pinjuri Union and Bujurgkona Madarbari of Radhaganj Union on Wednesday (November 5).

It is to be noted that some unscrupulous and influential fish farmers illegally constructed dams under government canals and government bridges and cultivated fish along the houses of the general public and government roads without providing any permanent protection, resulting in the removal of the illegally constructed dams in the two places.

At this time, all the fish farmers of Kotalipara were instructed to refrain from all kinds of illegal activities in the future, otherwise, strict legal action will be taken against the culprits under the rules of fines and government regulations.
Meanwhile, relief has returned among the local farmers, fishermen and the general public of the area after the upazila administration conducted a drive and removed the illegally constructed dam.
At the same time, they demanded the immediate removal of all illegal dams built by influential fish farmers across Kotalipara, especially the re-occupied Kushla-Radhaganj canal.
Although reports on this issue were published in several national and local newspapers, the victims expressed extreme anger that the upazila administration has not yet released the canal.
