Seven people including former Chhatra Dal leader arrested in Sreepur
The joint forces have arrested former Chhatra Dal general secretary Enamul Haque Molla (48) and his seven associates with weapons in Sreepur, Gazipur.
They were arrested by conducting a raid at Enamul’s house in Barkul village of Barmi Union from 2:30 pm to 5:30 am on Thursday (November 6).
The arrested are Enamul Haque Molla (48), former general secretary of Barmi Union Chhatra Dal and president of Mecca Mesfalah Saudi Arabia BNP, son of the late Abdul Ahad of Barkul village of Barmi Union in Sreepur Upazila, his associates Shawkat Mir, Zahid, Mostafa, Siddique, Bulbul and Tofazzal.
Locals said that Enamul Haque Molla had ruled a reign of terror in Barmi.
He changed his name to Abdullah Al Mamun and moved to Saudi Arabia in 2017 because he had multiple cases against him.
After seven long years, he returned from Saudi Arabia on August 5, 2024. Later, he came to his village home by helicopter.
Recently, he put up posters all over Sreepur Upazila as the president of Mecca Mesfalah Saudi Arabia BNP and campaigned extensively by holding meetings, rallies, processions, and meetings as a candidate for BNP nomination in Gazipur-3 (part of Sreepur-Sadar) constituency.
Sreepur Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Junaid said that on Wednesday (November 5), based on intelligence information, the joint forces conducted a raid on the house of former Chhatra Dal leader Enamul Haque Molla in Barkul village. Later, he was arrested from his residence. Based on the information he provided, the joint forces arrested his associates from different areas of Barmi Union.
During this time, 2 pistols, 3 magazines, 4 rounds of bullets, 4 walkie-talkies, 4 batons, 2 electric short machines, a hammer nail gun, and a knife were recovered from them.
The detainees were handed over to Sreepur Police Station around 6:30 am on Thursday (November 6).
