BNP has announced a preliminary list of 237 candidates for 300 seats in the upcoming national elections.
Out of these, no candidate has been announced for Narsingdi-3 Shibpur constituency. The candidate with an honest and qualified clean image and upazila BNP president and freedom fighter Abul Haris Rikabdar is the BNP’s candidacy candidate for this constituency. He is locally known as Kala Mia Sir. Abul Haris Rikabdar participated in the 1969 mass uprising and later in the 1971 war of independence. In 1976, he was elected the first chairman of the upazila’s Machimpur Union Parishad. He served as the chairman of Machimpur Union Parishad for almost 30 years.
In 1987, he established an institution called Shaheed Asad Collegiate Girls High School and College in his village Dhanua, Machimpur Union, to spread the light of education among the people of the village. He chose teaching as a profession along with politics.
Abul Haris Rikabder is well-known to the party leaders and workers as well as the people of the area as a transparent and clean politician. Party sources say that BNP will give priority to candidates with a ‘clean image’ in the next national parliamentary elections.
The party will not nominate anyone involved in wrongdoing or controversial. Following the party’s instructions, Abul Haris Rikabder is far ahead as a clean image candidate at the field level.
He believes in the ideals of the great independence proclaimer, martyr President Ziaur Rahman and has been directly involved in BNP politics since 1979 and has participated in various movements and struggles. Abul Haris Rikabdar, a fighter on the road, is making every effort to organize the party.
After visiting different areas of Shibpur constituency, it was learned that Abul Haris Rikabdar is campaigning in various ways, including distributing leaflets for the implementation of Tarique Rahman’s 31 points, holding yard meetings with party leaders and activists in different villages and neighborhoods, seeking votes for the rice sheaf, and holding mass contact and opinion exchange meetings.
He is also in constant contact with the central leaders. He has kept his leadership well-organized and strong in Shibpur Upazila BNP for a long time. Several leaders of the Upazila BNP said that during the rule of fascist Hasina, numerous false torture and oppressive cases were filed against leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliate organizations. A case was also filed against him at that time.
Abul Haris Rikabdar used to supervise the cases of leaders and activists and keep track of the leaders and activists and their families. Former chairman of Baghab Union Parishad, Tarun Mridha, said that if the party nominates the honest and qualified candidate with a clean image, Upazila BNP President, freedom fighter Abul Haris Rikabder Kala Mia Sir, he will be elected with a huge vote.
When talking to several grassroots leaders of BNP, they said that Abul Haris Rikabder Kala Mia Sir is a very honest, ideal and ethical politician. Rising above all greed and lust, he is working for the welfare of the people with ethics and morality, carrying the political ideals of Ziaur Rahman in his heart. The grassroots leaders of the party want to see Abul Haris Rikabder, a transparent and clean politician with a clean image, as the BNP nominee for the Shibpur constituency in the upcoming national parliamentary elections.
He has gained the trust of national leaders and voters as a popular and reliable candidate. Former Upazila Chhatra Dal President Nurul Amin Rikabder Jahan said that if Abul Haris Rikabder Kala Mia Sir is nominated by BNP, no one will be able to stop his victory in this seat.
He also said that among all the potential candidates seeking nomination from BNP in Shibpur constituency, Abul Haris Rikabder is a person with a clean image. Who has no allegations of corruption, extortion, tender rigging, land grabbing, illegal activities of any kind.
Even no one has done any wrong thing by tarnishing his name, he is a transparent and clean politician. He is a symbol of trust and confidence of Trinamool BNP. Abul Haris Rikabder told this reporter – I will work unitedly with everyone for whomever the party nominates under the direction of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman. I have been with the nationalist ideology for a long time.
Therefore, I am fully optimistic about getting BNP’s nomination in the next election. He further said, “If the party (BNP) nominates me as a candidate in the Shibpur constituency in the next parliamentary election, I will work together with everyone to ensure BNP’s victory in this constituency, InshaAllah.”
