A mobile court has sentenced 3 youths to prison for drug consumption in Sadar Upazila of Noakhali.

During this, 37 pieces of yaba and 550 grams of marijuana were recovered from them.

On Wednesday (November 5) night, Assistant Commissioner of the District Administration and Executive Magistrate Muksudus Salehin conducted the mobile court and handed down the sentence.

Earlier, they were arrested from Islamganj Bazar and Dakshin Housing areas of the upazila in the afternoon of the same day.

The jailed are Md. Rahat (22), son of Nurul Amin of Noannai Union of the upazila, Md. Javed (36), son of the deceased Siraj Mia of Krishnarampur area, and Md. Belal Hossain (34), son of the deceased Nazrul Islam.

Noakhali Narcotics Control Department Deputy Director Subrata Sarkar Shuvo said that the District Narcotics Control Department conducted a drive in Islamganj Bazar and Dakshin Housing areas of the upazila on Wednesday afternoon.

The three youths were arrested there while consuming marijuana in public. Later, a mobile court was set up and the three accused were given various terms of imprisonment and cash fines.
