The incident took place on Sunday (October 26) afternoon in Koyrapara village of the upazila. In this incident, the right-wing community and the teaching community have demanded that the creators of the ‘mob’ be brought under the law and brought to justice. Going to the ground, it was learned that the founding headmaster of Hasla High School in Mohanganj upazila is Md. Tajul Islam. He is a great teacher who founded this school in 1998 by donating 49 percent of one acre of land from his ancestral property in the name of the school. He has searched the area and brought students and talented teachers for the school. He has created an opportunity for poor and talented students to study without paying. He has repeatedly received awards as the district headmaster. He has spent all his life’s achievements behind this school. As a talented teacher, he has been harassed today. Some dangerous youths, who were incited by some greedy masked teachers working in his school, harassed this talented teacher. Despite repeated complaints to higher authorities, it has been proven false. Local political leaders have said that the headmaster is not involved in any political party, but they are against this headmaster. They are conspiring to involve him in a false case by linking him with a political party. The acting headmaster of the school filed a robbery complaint against the headmaster at the Bazlur Rahman police station. In the complaint, he said that Tajul Islam held a knife to his throat in the afternoon and snatched 85 thousand taka. When this incident was falsely reported on social media, Bazlur Rahman himself applied to withdraw the complaint.
Although the police returned the application, it was not taken into account as it was a false complaint. He put pressure on the OC to show his arrest in an old sabotage case with the ‘Awami League tag’.
But the police rejected it as there was no evidence. According to local sources, there has been a dispute over the positions of the school management committee for a long time. An influential group has been complaining about this to various offices against teacher Tajul Islam. He has been prevented from entering the school since August 5, 2024. Later, the then convener of the ad hoc committee, the Upazila Executive Officer, wrongfully sent head teacher Tajul Islam on leave and appointed assistant teacher Bazlur Rahman as the acting head teacher. An organized group of 30 people created a mob on the head teacher Tajul Islam and caused this incident.
The head teacher said that he was attacked with the intention of killing him. If the police had not gone to the scene and rescued him, he could have died. The students, teachers, school committee and local residents demand that all the criminals who attacked a great teacher be severely punished according to the current law.
