Protest demanding cancellation of nomination of paddy sheesh in Gouripur constituency, Mymensingh-3

Hiron supporters blocked the Dhaka-bound inter-city Haor Express train at Gouripur Junction on Tuesday (November 4/25) demanding cancellation of nomination of paddy sheesh in Gouripur constituency, Mymensingh-3. The leaders and activists blocked the railway track and held a protest procession by lying in front of the train. Upazila BNP member Abdul Mannan spoke at the time. Gouripur Junction Station Master Shafiqul Islam said that supporters of Ahmed Tayebur Rahman Hiron, who was denied nomination, created a blockade on the railway track from 9:35 am. Railway police arrived and brought the situation under control. The train was stuck at the station for 37 minutes. In addition, the leaders and activists took out a protest procession in the afternoon. They circled the city and ended at the Upazila Parishad premises. Municipal BNP member secretary Sujit Kumar Das said, Hiron is the beloved person of the oppressed and persecuted leaders and activists of this region. He has sacrificed everything in his life for BNP. At the protest rally, Ahmed Tayebur Rahman Hiron’s wife Saida Masrur said, “I have not been able to sleep peacefully with my husband for 17 years. Sometimes he is in jail and sometimes he is on the run. He has given everything for the party. During the July movement, my husband was in jail and I was in the movement with my daughter. Municipal BNP member secretary Sujit Kumar Das, Upazila BNP joint convener Shahjahan Siraj, North District Swechhasebak Dal joint convener Mazharul Islam Pratyay, former College Chhatra Dal president Shahjahan Akand Sumon, Upazila Chhatra Dal joint convener Kamrul Islam Pias, among others, spoke at the protest rally.
