Youth shot dead by rival over past dispute in Mollakandi, Munshiganj
A youth named Tuhin Dewan (22) was shot dead by rival over past dispute in Mollakandi Union, Munshiganj.
The incident took place at around 9:30 pm on Sunday, November 2, in Dakshin Beherkandi village in the Char area of the union.
Eyewitness Akash Dewan said that the deceased Tuhin had left his house for a walk on Sunday night.
At that time, in front of the Munshikandi Primary School, the opponent Mollakandi Union BNP leader Ozir Ali and Awlad Group follower Liton Bepari, led by BNP leader Ojir Ali, targeted the deceased Tuhin from behind and shot him. At that time, Tuhin was shot and fell to the ground.
Upon receiving the news of the incident, locals rescued him in a seriously injured condition and took him to Munshiganj General Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
He also said that the deceased Tuhin was a follower of Mollakandi Union BNP President Wahid Mollah and BNP leader Atiq Mallick.
There was a previous dispute between them over local political dominance. In this regard, the doctor in charge of the emergency department of Munshiganj General Hospital, Prant Sardar, said that he died before being brought to the hospital. There are multiple bullet marks on his back and neck. Munshiganj Additional Superintendent of Police Firoz Kabir said that the reason for the incident has not yet been confirmed. An investigation will clarify the matter. Additional police have been sent to the area to control the tension.
