‘BNP’ Announces 10 candidates for CTG constituencie
BNP has unveiled its first list of parliamentary nominees for Chattogram ahead of the 13th national election, naming candidates in 10 out of the district’s 16 constituencies. The remaining six names will be announced later, party leaders said.
Announcement came Monday afternoon at the BNP chairperson’s political office in Gulshan, where Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir briefed reporters.
The list features several senior leaders, former lawmakers, and prominent district organisers, signalling a blend of old guard trust and local grassroots strength in the party’s selection process.
Confirmed BNP candidates for Chattogram seats:
Chattogram-1 (Mirsarai): Nurul Amin Chairman, former joint convener of north district BNP and former upazila chairman
Chattogram-2 (Fatikchhari): Sarwar Alamgir, former joint convener of north district BNP
Chattogram-4 (Sitakunda): Kazi Salauddin
Chattogram-5 (Hathazari): Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, assistant organising secretary (central)
Chattogram-7 (Rangunia): Hummam Quader Chowdhury, central committee member and son of late Salauddin Quader Chowdhury
Chattogram-8 (Chandgaon–Boalkhali): Ershad Ullah, convener of Chattogram city BNP
Chattogram-10 (Khulshi–Pahartali): Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, standing committee member and former minister
Chattogram-12 (Patiya): Enamul Haque Enam, former senior joint convener of south district BNP
Chattogram-13 (Anwara–Karnaphuli): Sarwar Jamal Nizam, former lawmaker
Chattogram-16 (Banshkhali): Mishkatul Islam Chowdhury Pappa, joint convener of south district BNP and son of former minister Zafrul Islam Chowdhury
Seats yet to be announced:
Chattogram-3 (Sandwip), Chattogram-6 (Raozan), Chattogram-9 (Kotwali–Bakalia — nomination temporarily withheld), Chattogram-11 (Bandar–Patenga), Chattogram-14 (Chandanaish–part of Satkania), Chattogram-15 (Satkania–Lohagara)
BNP leadership indicated that internal discussions and local political dynamics are still being evaluated for the remaining seats, particularly in highly competitive constituencies.
The announcement has already triggered political conversations across the port city as party activists weigh the implications of the selections and prepare for campaign mobilization.
