BGB has issued a ‘combat alert’ on Teknaf border

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has issued a ‘Combat Alert’ to prevent human and drug trafficking along the Teknaf border. Teknaf Battalion (2 BGB) rescued 13 human trafficking victims, seized 60,000 Yaba tablets and 34 liters of domestically brewed liquor in three separate operations on November 1 and 2.

BGB Commander Lt. Col. Ashikur Rahman, PSC said that in the first operation, 13 victims, including 9 men, 2 women and 2 children, were safely rescued by raiding the hideout of traffickers in Habibchhara area adjacent to Marine Drive in Teknaf. They had fallen into the trap of being trafficked abroad.

In the second operation, 60,000 Yaba tablets were recovered from the sacks left by traffickers at the Nazirpara border. In the third operation, an autorickshaw was searched in the Noakhalipara area, two passengers were arrested and 34 liters of domestically brewed liquor were seized.

The arrested persons are Md. Abdullah (35) and Md. Joynal (20), both residents of Teknaf upazila.

Lt. Col. Ashikur Rahman said, “Our operation against drugs and human trafficking will continue.

There is no compromise on border security.”
