Dr. Md. Shafiqul Islam is seeking nomination from BNP for Gazipur-3 constituency

Former senior vice-president of Gazipur district BNP, Dr. Md. Shafiqul Islam, is seeking nomination from Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) for Gazipur-3 parliamentary constituency.
He has been associated with BNP politics for a long time and has played an important role in leadership and organization work at the grassroots level. Dr. Md. Shafiqul Islam was born on February 26, 1964 in Gilar Chala village of Sreepur upazila of Gazipur district. His father, late Alhaj A. Qadir Akand, was the headmaster of a government primary school and played a leading role in education and social service locally. In his professional life, he is a renowned physician and chairman of AK Memorial Hospital Limited, a modern medical institution located in Sreepur. In his political career, he was the Senior Vice President of Gazipur District BNP (2022-2025), former Deputy Health Secretary of the Central Committee of the Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal (2012-2019), and General Secretary of Sreepur Upazila BNP, among other important positions. He is also a lifelong member of the Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) and the Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA). He is equally active in social activities. He has served as a donor and member of the governing council of several educational institutions, including Gilar Chala Government Primary School, Abed Ali Girls High School, and Sreepur University College. Dr. Md. Shafiqul Islam participated in the Sreepur Municipality elections as a candidate of the four-party alliance in two phases (in 2002 and 2007). At various times, he has also served as an important responsibilities of the BNP’s election management committee, of which the responsibilities of the 2008 National Parliament election and upazila elections are particularly notable. Local young entrepreneur Faruk Hasan said, “He has a very good relationship with grassroots leaders and activists. He always values ​​the people of the organization and takes initiative to solve problems. ” On the other hand, Md. Rafiqul Islam, an elderly resident of Gilar Chala village, said, “We want a candidate who will be on the side of the development of the area and the people. Shafiqul Islam is that worthy person.” Regarding future plans, Dr. Shafiqul Islam said, “I am hoping for the nomination of the BNP symbol, the sheaf of rice. Under the leadership of Begum Khaleda Zia and Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, I want to work for the restoration of democracy and the implementation of the ideals of martyred President Ziaur Rahman for the rest of my life. My goal is to develop Sripur, or Gazipur-3, as a model area.” He also said, “I am moving forward with a commitment to rise above greed and ambition and dedicate my life to human welfare. ”Long political experience at the grassroots level, contribution to the medical profession and active participation in social activities – all together, Dr. Md. Shafiqul Islam is seen by local political analysts as a potential BNP candidate for the Gazipur-3 constituency. The people’s expectation is that if he gets the nomination, then new horizons will open for the development and welfare of the people of Sreepur.
