For the first time, a van has been added to Shyamnagar Municipality in Satkhira for waste removal. The van was provided to be used for waste removal in the municipality at the initiative and implementation of CDO, a youth-based non-governmental development organization. On Saturday (October 25) at 8 am, the van was handed over to Upazila Executive Officer Md. Roni Khatun and Municipal Administrator and Shyamnagar Assistant Commissioner (Land) Rashed Hossain at the Upazila Parishad premises by CDO Executive Committee Vice-President Md. Abul Hossain, former Principal (Acting) of Shyamnagar Government Mohsin College, Executive Committee members Nur Islam and Aminur Rahman Bakul. Regarding the handover of the van, CDO Executive Director Gazi Al Imran said, CDO has been working for the socio-economic development of Shyamnagar for a long time and today’s event is a part of that commitment.
A clean environment is the basis of a healthy life. The problem of waste management in our region has been a big challenge for a long time. Uncontrolled waste poses a serious threat to the environment and public health. The sincere cooperation of our local administration and community is very important to solve this problem.
We believe that no big change is possible without collective efforts. With that in mind, CDO has gifted the van to Shyamnagar Municipality today, and in the coming days, CDO and other NGOs including CNRS will provide the van and also cooperate in the waste management plant. These vans for waste collection are not just a mechanical tool, but a symbol of our collective commitment – a commitment to build a clean, green and healthy Shyamnagar.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Roni Khatun said, proper waste management is essential for a planned and healthy urban life. Uncontrolled waste not only causes environmental pollution, but also has a negative impact on public health and overall quality of life. We all need to work together to solve this problem.
The van that the CDO is handing over to the municipality today will greatly enhance our waste management capacity. Through this, the waste collection process across the city will be more organized, which will help make our municipality cleaner and more beautiful. This initiative proves that it is possible to bring about big positive changes through public-private partnerships. He also thanked all the other NGOs that are cooperating in the waste management plant.
Present at the event were Shyamnagar Press Club President Samuil Azam Monir, senior journalists Afzalur Rahman, Abu Said, teacher and journalist Ranjit Barman, journalist Abdul Quader, journalist Yasin Arafat, journalist Utpal Mondal, Sultan Shahjahan, CDO Youth Team Senior Volunteer Hafizur Rahman, Anisur Rahman Milon, Moazzem Hossain Sadi, Nuha Islam, CDO Field Organizer Afzalur Rahman, Shampar Biswas, Rubina Khatun, Minarul Haque and others.
