On Wednesday (October 22), the Chapainawabganj Municipality removed illegally constructed establishments and shops in the market area in an eviction drive. At this time, Golam Rasul Saber, the writ petitioner, held a press conference in the court alleging that a shop of Messrs. Shraban Fish Traders under the fish market was demolished without following the High Court orders. At this time, he said that this New Market fish market was built around 1970. After that, more than 70 shops under the fish market have been operating for a long time. When we appealed to the High Court regarding these shops, the court extended the period until December. He further said that on Wednesday (October 22), the magistrate showed him all the documents of the High Court and informed him about the stay order. But he did not listen to that and tore up the documents of the court’s instructions. He destroyed everything. He appealed to the administration and the government to look into the matter and take action. We are now on our way. He said that in addition to Messrs. Shrawan Fish Traders, at least 200 shops have been removed in the eviction drive in the New Market area.
