Aminul Kabir Rana, an entrepreneur of the Magnama Union Parishad in Pekua Upazila of Cox’s Bazar, has been accused of corruption, irregularities and arbitrariness. A total of 12 elected UP members of the Union Parishad have appealed to the Upazila Executive Officer and demanded his removal.
According to the complaint source, entrepreneur Aminul Kabir Rana (34) has been serving as an entrepreneur in Magnama Union Parishad for a long time.
He is the son of Mohammad Hossain of Chandar Para area of ​​Ward No. 7.
The complainants claim that due to his duties as an entrepreneur, he has been collecting extra money from the common people seeking services coming to the Union Parishad for various services.
They allege that he charged up to three times the prescribed fee for various services including maternity allowance application, VGD card, TCB card, birth registration, voter application, citizen certificate, nationality certificate, and certification at the Union Digital Center.
The complaint states that he even charged Tk 5,000 per person from reserved female members for including their names in the maternity allowance list.
The UP members further allege that they repeatedly warned Rana about these matters, but he did not pay any attention.
On the contrary, when a UP member suggested completing the online application quickly during the 2025 voter update, he got angry and tried to abuse him in obscene language and physically humiliate him.
The complaint states that when UP members protested his corruption and irregularities on September 8, the entrepreneur Rana got angry and abused and threatened him again.
As the situation got out of control, 12 UP members of Magnama Union Parishad jointly submitted a written petition to the Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) on October 6.
They demanded strict legal action against the accused entrepreneur and his immediate removal.
In this regard, Magnama UP entrepreneur Aminul Kabir said, “This is a conspiracy against me.
A few members are conspiring together. Their allegations are false and baseless.
Upazila Executive Officer Mainul Hossain Chowdhury said in this regard that we have received the complaint.
In addition, some information from him, including several audio-videos, has come to our hands. Necessary measures will be taken after investigation.
According to local conscious citizens, the administration needs to monitor more strictly so that the common people do not become victims of harassment while getting services from the Union Parishad.
