A free typhoid vaccination program has started for 8.5 lakh children in Rangpur. There was a huge response among the students on the first day of the vaccination program.
The program was inaugurated by Rangpur Police Lines School and College Auditorium on Sunday morning by Rangpur City Corporation Administrator Joint Secretary Mohd Ashraful Islam.
Rangpur City Corporation Chief Executive Officer Umme Fatima, District Police Superintendent Abu Saim, Rangpur City Corporation Chief Health Officer Dr. Kamruzzaman Ibne Taj, Police Lines School Vice Principal (Administration) A.N. M Babar Ali, spoke at the inaugural ceremony presided over by Police Lines School and College Principal Professor Dr. KM Jalal Uddin Akbar.
In addition, the vaccination program was inspected by the Director of the Directorate of Health, ABM Abu Hanif, Additional Secretary Huzur Ali, Rangpur Range DIG Aminul Islam, Rangpur Divisional Health Director Dr. Gawsul Azam, Deputy Director Dr. Wazed Ali, and UNICEF Chief Toufique Ahmed.
On the inaugural day, students aged 9 months to 15 years received the vaccine in a festive atmosphere.
The students were happy to receive the vaccine free of charge in the fastest possible time for health protection without any side effects.
Meanwhile, the typhoid vaccination program was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rabiul Faisal at the Dhaperhat Government Primary School in Rangpur Sadar Upazila.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Shaheen Sultana and officials of the Health Department were present at the time.
It is worth noting that by November 13, 2025, 4 lakh 39 thousand 402 children will be vaccinated against typhoid fever at the school level and 2 lakh 9 thousand 452 children at the community level in 8 upazilas of Rangpur district and 2 lakh 10 thousand 719 children at the school and community level in 33 wards of Rangpur City Corporation.
