Free seeds and fertilizers distributed to farmers in Gomastapur
In Gomastapur, Chapainawabganj, free seeds and fertilizers have been distributed to marginal farmers in order to increase winter vegetable production in their homes and fields under the Agricultural Rehabilitation and Incentive Program in the 2025-26 Rabi season.
The distribution of these seeds and fertilizers was inaugurated by the Upazila Agricultural Extension Department at the Gomastapur Upazila Parishad premises in Chapainawabganj district at 10 am on Thursday (October 9).
Upazila Agriculture Officer Krishibid Md. Saqlain Hossain presided over the event and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Zakir Munshi inaugurated the distribution of seeds and fertilizers to farmers as the chief guest.
Among others present at the event were Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Md. Wasim Akram, Rural Development Officer Md. Raisul Islam, Cooperative Officer Sultan Alam Khan, Public Health Deputy Assistant Engineer Md. Yusuf Ali, Plant Protection Officer Md. Serajul Islam, Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer Md. Rakib, Md. Ibrahim, local media workers and farmers and others.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Krishibid Md. Saqlain Hossain said that in the 2025-26 fiscal year, in order to increase the production of winter vegetables in households and fields under the Agricultural Rehabilitation and Incentive Program, the Upazila Agriculture Office took the initiative to distribute free seeds and fertilizers among 850 marginal farmers of 1 municipality and 8 unions of the upazila.
Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Zakir Munshi said that the main part of agriculture is the production of various types of crops, which are the main source of food for people.
By producing winter vegetables, the nutritional needs and basic needs of the people of the country must be met.
By cultivating these winter vegetable seeds properly, farmers will be able to provide nutrition to their families and become economically self-sufficient by marketing them.
