Under the banner of fulfilling the demands of the people of the district including Kalmakanda Durgapur for speedy road repairs, an hour-long human chain and rally was held on the road in front of the Press Club of the district town at 11 am on Wednesday.
The public suffering on the roads has reached an extreme level in various upazilas including Kalmakanda, Durgapur and Medini Union of Sadar Upazila via Sidhli. The human chain program was held with the hope of overcoming this. Chandranath Degree College Principal Anwar Hasan, Jamiat-e-Ulama President and former Principal of Jamia Miftaul Madrasa Mufti Muhammad Taher Qasemi, Judge Court Senior Advocate Rubina Nasrin, Netrakona Government Women’s College Assistant Professor Md. Khandaker Oli Ullah, Lecturer Kanak Pandit, Haor Bachao Andolan Central Committee Organizing Secretary Journalist Munayem Khan, District Revolutionary Workers Party President Sajib Sarkar, Md. Sakhawat Hossain Assistant Teacher Sidhli High School, Journalist Shafiqul Islam Quddus, Habibur Rahman, Sheikh Monowar Hossain, leaders of political, socio-cultural organizations and media workers from various upazilas of the district were present. At this time, the speakers said that the road condition in various upazilas of the district including Medni road from Sidhli to Lengura, Kalmakanda, Durgapur and others was very bad. The district civic society has sought the cooperation of the administration to provide civic services by renovating the roads at a rapid pace.
