A young man riding a motorcycle named Md. Emon (24) tragically died after being hit by a truck in Begumganj, Noakhali.
Another young man was seriously injured in the incident.
The accident occurred at around 10 am on Thursday (September 11) in the Sarurgo Pole area of ​​the Chaumuhani to Feni regional highway in Durgapur union of the upazila.
The deceased Emon is a resident of Latifpur village in ward number 3 of Rasulpur union of the upazila.
On the other hand, the injured Nur Hossain Rifat (20) is the son of the same village, Abdul Haque Daktar Bari.
Injured Rifat’s elder brother Rakib said that Emon and Rifat are residents of Latifpur village in the upazila.
The two of them are learning the job of electric plumber together.
On Thursday morning, they were going to Chaumuhani Bazar Ekala from their home to do electrical plumbing work on a motorcycle.
On the way, when the motorcycle reached the Sarur Pol area of ​​the Chaumuhani to Feni regional highway, a truck from Chaumuhani village tried to overtake their motorcycle and hit it from behind.
As a result, the two young men riding the motorcycle fell on the road and were seriously injured.
Later, they were rescued and taken to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital, where the on-duty doctor and Emon were declared dead.
From there, Rifat is being taken to Dhaka for advanced treatment in a critical condition.
Chandraganj Highway Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mobarak Hossain Bhuiyan said that the police visited the scene after receiving the information. The driver fled with the truck immediately after the accident. Further legal action will be taken based on the complaint of the deceased’s family.
