BGB special operation rescues 2 teenagers in Teknaf
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) is determined to suppress any crime including arms, drugs and human trafficking in the border areas of Cox’s Bazar.
Teknaf Battalion (2 BGB) special operation has caught 01 person from the trafficking ring while smuggling two teenagers.
According to its own intelligence sources, a human trafficking ring has recently become active in Myanmar by luring them with jobs.
It is also known that the ring will send 02 Bangladeshi citizens to Myanmar through the border by 01 FDMN member stationed in Bangladesh. To prevent the mischief of the smugglers, several operation teams of 2 BGB and its own intelligence officers have been deployed under the planning and leadership of Teknaf Battalion (2 BGB) Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Ashikur Rahman PSC.
Initially, the traffickers came to Baraitali from Cox’s Bazar with the victim teenagers and took up position in the Kerantali area after observing the activities of the BGB.
During this time, a raid was conducted and 02 Bangladeshi teenagers were rescued, Md. Mahim (15), son of Ayub Khan, and Sohel (16), son of Jasim, from the Lal Dighir Par area of Cox’s Bazar city. 1 person from the trafficking ring was arrested.
However, a trafficker named Nur Hasan managed to escape.
Initial interrogation revealed the truth about human trafficking in Myanmar. The accused said that Amin, a member of the trafficking ring located inside Myanmar, and his connivance sent Bangladeshi citizens to Myanmar illegally.
Later, in some cases, with his cooperation, arrangements were made for the victims to travel to Malaysia via Myanmar.
According to eyewitnesses and locals, the gang has been waging a reign of terror in the area for quite some time, including drug and human trafficking.
Although there have been allegations against them of being involved in various crimes including drug trafficking in the past, it is rumored that the terrorists have been sneaking out and selling human and drugs freely, breaking the law.
As a result, the arrest of the godfather of the human trafficking gang, Russell (18), son of Syed Alam, of Kutupalong (01) Block C/13 of Teknaf Police Station in Cox’s Bazar, has cast a shadow over the public.
Based on the important information provided by the accused during the initial interrogation, Teknaf Battalion (2 BGB) will take strict action to bring all the members of the gang to justice, said Teknaf 2 Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Ashikur Rahman PSC.
He further said that the accused arrested in the operation conducted on the morning of September 8 has been handed over to the local police station and a case has been registered in accordance with the prevailing law.
