Van driver/mechanic Sajan Mia was murdered for not being able to pay the Extortion
Murders have become so common in todays Bangladesh as well as this incident. The incident took place in a place called Bakolia Bogar Bill in Chittagong around evening last 7th September.
According to the police, Bakolia police arrested two people involved in the murder 8 hours after the incident.
Meanwhile, when Sajan Mia’s body was brought to the area after the autopsy, locals protested on the Bakolia access road demanding the hanging of the murderers. The reason behind the incident is the Extortion, Sajan Mia had to be murdered for not being able to pay this Extortion. Although he was a van driver by profession, he was unable to do this due to physical illness and used to repair vans and run the family. Locals said that the only driving force in the family is Sajan Mia’s, he father of five children. Meanwhile, the daughters are fainting repeatedly due to the grief of losing their father. The general public of Bakolia area is now witnessing such a heartbreaking scene.
Sajan Mia’s family claims that a group of terrorists came and demanded extortion, if you do business here you will have to pay a bribe, an eyewitness said that there were several unknown people including Yaba trader Ripon, the knife attacker Saijit, Abu Kalam, Bahar Ali, Baijit, Kausar and several others. This eyewitness also said that if the police or journalists are informed about this incident, they threatened to kill more people.
Eyewitnesses to the murder case are spending their days in fear of more murders in this regard.
One of the eyewitnesses said that there was an argument with Sajan Mia’s brother over a trivial incident, at one stage of the argument, van mechanic Sajan Mia was stabbed to death in a pre-planned manner when he did not get a bribe.
Despite repeated attempts to contact the OC of Bakolia Police Station over the phone to get a statement on this matter, he did not revived the call.
