Two hilsa were caught in the Meghna River in Noakhali. Later, the two hilsa were sold at an auction for 11,500 taka. On Saturday (August 23) afternoon, fish trader Fazal Bhandari purchased two hilsa weighing about 5.5 kg from the Chairman Ghat fish market. It is known that Md. Bahar Uddin, a fisherman from Ramgati in Lakshmipur, cast his net in the Meghna River at dawn and dusk. After a few hours, he brought the net back in. At that time, several small and medium-sized Hilsa along with two large queen Hilsa were caught. Later, to get a better price for the two fish, he brought them to the Chairman Ghat fish market. Fisherman Md. Bahar Uddin said, “I have caught poa fish and hilsa in the sea.” I got two big queen hilsa from them, which I am selling at a good price. Alhamdulillah, I am very happy. Fish trader Fazal Bhandari said, “I purchased two fish weighing 5.5 kg for 11.5 thousand taka.” I will send it to those who have a party in Dhaka. I have not caught such a big hilsa this season. I will be able to sell the two fish at a good price, God willing. Businessman Md. Akbar, owner of the Allahar Dan Fish Shop at Chairman Ghat, said that fishermen are waiting on the shore with their boats due to the rough sea. There is currently a fish shortage, as a result of which fishermen, traders, shopkeepers, and workers are all burdened with debt. Some people get fish and some don’t. But when they get fish, everyone’s face will smile. Hatia Upazila Fisheries Officer Md. Fahad Hasan said that large Hilsa fish are often available and the price is also good. The number of large fish in the river has increased due to the implementation of various government restrictions to conserve fish. We hope that fishermen will catch more and more large fish in the sea in the future. Which will bring smiles to the faces of fishermen and will also resonate in the market.
