Dhaka-North and West Bengal train services resume after 8 hours

Students blocked the Dhaka-North Bengal railway line at Ullapara R. S. Railgate demanding the construction of a permanent campus of Rabindra University in Shahjadpur, Sirajganj.
At that time, they stood on the railway line and blocked the road by holding a protest procession.
In this incident, all train services between Dhaka and North and West Bengal were stopped. The authorities stopped 7 trains going to Dhaka and North-West Bengal at different railway stations on both sides of Ullapara railway station.
At the blockade site, which started at 9 am on Wednesday, at the request of Ullapara Upazila Executive Officer Abu Saleh Mohammad Hasnat and Ullapara Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Rakibul Hasan, Rabindra University students withdrew the blockade after 6 hours at around 2:30 pm.

Locals said that Rabindra University students gathered at Ullapara R.S. Railgate around 8:30 am and started protesting by blocking the Dhaka-North and West Bengal-bound railway lines around 9 am.
During the blockade, Ullapara Upazila Executive Officer Abu Saleh Mohammad Hasnat and Ullapara Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Rakibul Hasan reached the spot and made many efforts to lift the blockade of Rabindra University students. After 6 hours, at around 2:30 pm, Rabindra University students withdrew their blockade program at the request of the Upazila Executive Officer and the Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge. Currently, all train services to Dhaka and North-West Bengal have returned to normal.
