On Tuesday night, miscreants killed an unidentified person in a banana plantation in the KadwaBattali area of Akkalpur upazila in Joypurhat, then wrapped him in sacks, covered him in cow dung and burnt that body.
Officer-in-Charge of Akkalpur Police Station, Mominul Islam, said that at the scene, the banana plantation owner Bakish Chandra Dabnath saw a fire in his banana plantation and called the villagers. When they reached the spot, they found a body wrapped in sacks engulfed in flames. At that time, they tried to douse the fire by drawing water from the pond, but the body, including face, was burnt in various parts of the body. Villagers informed the Akkelpur police station. The police suspect that the deceased was killed somewhere far away, then bundled up and brought to a safe place, where the assailants set fire to the body and fled. The body has been recovered and brought to the police station. The police said that no trace of the body had been found till the writing of this report.
