8 fishermen arrested with 2 illegal trawling boats in Mahipur

Coast Guard Nizampur Station members have arrested eight fishermen, including two illegal wooden trawlers, during a raid at the Alipur-Mohipur fisheries landing center in Patuakhali.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq confirmed the information in a press release on Thursday (July 31) afternoon. The Coast Guard said that at 1 am on Thursday (July 31), Coast Guard Station Nizampur and the Fisheries Department conducted a special operation in the Amkhola area of the Alipur-Mohipur Fisheries Landing Center in Patuakhali and arrested 8 fishermen along with 9 pieces of Behundi nets and 2 illegal artisanal trawling boats.
Later, the trawling equipment was removed from the seized artisanal trawling boat in the presence of a fisheries officer. The arrested fishermen, along with the seized trawling boat and net, were handed over to Kalapara Police Station for further legal action. He also said that the Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to protect fisheries resources.
