Tension is prevailing in the area due to the controversy over the sexual harassment incident between the assistant teacher and the headmaster of Abhaypasha Government Primary School in Atpara Upazila of the district. A counter-attack took place at Abhaypasha Government Primary School on Wednesday afternoon (July 23). Headmaster Jahangir Alam said that he had reprimanded assistant teacher Ruby Akhter for not attending school on time a few days ago. Later, around 1 pm on Wednesday, Hafizur Rahman Mr. and Munna Khan Shaheen entered the school and harassed him, accusing him of ‘even teasing women’. Jahangir Alam even alleged that he was taken outside by the collar of his Punjabi and beaten. Assistant teacher Ruby Akhter said that Jahangir Alam had been sexually harassing her for a long time. In this context, he unnecessarily accused me. It is also reported that Taslima Cohen, the wife of the headmaster, an assistant teacher at Chayashi Government Primary School, went to the school and slapped assistant teacher Ruby Akhter for the incident. In this regard, Atpara Upazila Assistant Education Officer Ahsan Ullah Mukul said, “We immediately reached the spot after the clash and brought the situation under control. We are investigating the matter and action will be taken accordingly.”
