Awards were distributed among the best students under the Performance Based Grants for Secondary Institutions Scheme (SEDP) project of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education in Kumarkhali, Kushtia. The distribution was held at the Upazila Parishad auditorium on Thursday afternoon.

Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) SM Mikhail Islam was the chief guest at the award distribution ceremony organized by the Kumarkhali Upazila Secondary Education Office and District Education Office. Kushtia District Education Officer (Acting) Abu Tayyab Md Yunus ALi was the president.

Also present among others were Kumarkhali Women College Principal Tariqul Islam Lipon, Youth Development Forum Chairman Ashiqul Islam Chapal, Kumarkhali MN High School former headmaster Shahidul Islam, headmasters of various schools, guardians and journalists from print and electronic media.

Upazila Academic Supervisor Md. Ashiquzzaman moderated the welcome speech and Upazila Secondary Education Officer Md. Nazmul Haque delivered the welcome speech.

Speakers at the event said that this Performance Based Grants project is an effective initiative to provide financial assistance to educational institutions as well as ensure quality improvement, transparency and accountability. The government is committed to improving the quality of education.

Chief guest Upazila Executive Officer SM Mikhail Islam said that education is not just a certificate, but also one of the means of building a person. We hope that this project will make teachers more responsible and bring about qualitative changes in educational institutions.

At the end of the program, crests and certificates were distributed to the meritorious students.
