11 BGB medical campaign held at Naikhongchari border

Border Guard Bangladesh Naikhongchari Battalion 11 BGB stands by the helpless and poor people living in the remote hilly township of Naikhongchari border in Bandarban.
An exceptional humanitarian and awareness meeting was organized at the Jamchhari Border Post on the border from 11 am on Thursday (July 17) throughout the day.
The programs that began this morning included free medical services and distribution of medicines, public awareness meetings to prevent drugs, smuggling, mine explosions and illegal infiltration, financial assistance to those injured in mine explosions, and food assistance programs.
In the said medical campaign, free medical services and necessary medicines were provided to about 200 helpless, distressed and poor people.
In addition, food items were distributed to more than 150 people.
At a discussion meeting organized to raise awareness about various risks and security threats at the border, local people were urged to come forward to prevent drugs and smuggling.
Naikhongchari Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel SKM Kafil Uddin Kayes was present as the chief guest at the event. He said that BGB is not only working for border guarding but also for the welfare of the border people. These humanitarian and welfare activities will be further strengthened. He also said, “The conscious and cooperative role of the locals is essential to prevent drugs, smuggling, mine explosions and illegal infiltration.”
The deputy commander of the battalion, along with other officers, media personnel, local dignitaries, and BGB members were present at the event.
Some local residents commented that the BGB’s image among the locals has been further strengthened due to its commendable role in border security as well as humanitarian activities.
Local resident Hafez Nurul Alam said,
This assistance from the BGB is a great blessing for poor people like us.
We will benefit even more if such programs are held regularly at the border.
It is worth noting that the Naikhongchari Battalion (11 BGB) is carrying out various humanitarian assistance and social welfare activities in addition to ongoing border security activities, which are playing an important role in peace, harmony and development of the border area.
