While Arresting Awami League Leader, Chhatra Dal Leader Arrested; Later, Police Released Him Under Pressure!

A dramatic situation arose in Chandgaon, Chittagong City on Tuesday night. While trying to “hand over” an influential Awami League leader, Abdul Baten, to the police, Chhatra Dal’s Chandgaon Police Station branch joint convener Md. Raihan and one of his colleagues were arrested.

It is learned that due to various cases and foundation-related disputes, Raihan gathered a crowd against Baten in the area adjacent to the Chandgaon office of Chittagong RAB-7. At one stage, a ‘mob justice’ situation arose around the locals. It is alleged that Raihan planned to hand over Baten to the police by massacring him.

But when the situation became chaotic, the police immediately arrived at the scene and arrested Abdul Baten, Raihan, and his accomplice and took them to Chandgaon police station. Then a new twist was created in the incident.

Shortly after reaching the police station, several journalists rushed there. Because both sides attracted the attention of journalists by giving ‘news’ from their respective positions. Several police officers found themselves in an embarrassing situation at this time.

Meanwhile, when the news of the arrest of Chhatra Dal leader Raihan and taking him to the police station spread, there was a huge sensation in the area. A situation like a police station siege was created. A local teacher named Awlad Hossain arrived at the scene and spoke publicly against the police administration in the police station premises.

However, several reliable sources have revealed that there is “indirect support” from a top BNP leader behind the entire incident. The sources claim that Raihan is a close follower of the leader and has been in a political dispute with Baten for a long time.

Later, after extensive pressure and strategic compromise, the police were forced to release Raihan and Baten at one stage.
