Ahead of the upcoming Eid al-Adha, the sacrificial animal market has been bustling in Naopara, Louhajang, Munshiganj. Vendors are coming to this market every day with local cows and goats. The upazila administration, police and the relevant haat authorities have made extensive preparations, including security arrangements, smooth traffic, and counterfeit note detection machines around the livestock market. They are campaigning to attract buyers to the livestock market. A miking competition is going on in all 10 unions of the upazila. The haat authorities are trying to attract buyers and sellers by promising them various facilities and amenities. Buyers are complaining that sellers are charging almost double the price. And sellers say that they are trying to sell while keeping the price stable. However, both buyers and sellers say that buying and selling will generally start well two to three days before Eid. This time, the price is expected to remain at a tolerable level due to the high supply of sacrificial animals. While locals have dressed up their cows in various ways and brought them to the market, traders from far away have brought a large number of cows to the market by truck. Cows and khasis of various sizes have been brought to the market. Sellers say that although the cost of fattening the animals is higher this year, the price is lower than last year. Even then, buyers are leaving after hearing the price. This is worrying them. On the other hand, buyers say that the traders are setting high prices. Therefore, they are struggling to buy sacrificial animals according to their ability. Just like last year, this year too, a good collection is being made on the grounds of Naopara High School. Union Land Assistant Officer Md. Jalal Uddin said that this market is running on Khas collection this year as well. The harvest is being done as per the rules.
