The 18th World Autism Awareness Day was celebrated with various events in Gopalganj. World Autism Day was celebrated in Gopalganj with the theme “Welcoming Neurodiversity, Building a Sustainable Society”. On Tuesday, a colorful procession, jointly initiated by the district administration and the Department of Social Services, started from in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, circled the main roads of the city, and ended back in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

Later, Deputy Commissioner and learned District Magistrate (Joint Secretary) Muhammad Kamruzzaman delivered a valuable speech as the chief guest at the discussion meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room “Swachhta”. The discussion meeting, moderated by Gopalganj District Social Services Office Deputy Director Md. Harun-or-Rashid and Probation Officer Al Amin Mollah, was addressed as special guests by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Golam Kabir, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Abu Saleh Md. Ansar Uddin, Resident Physicians of the Civil Surgeon’s Office Dr. Dibakar Biswas and Dr. Abul Kalam Azad.

At that time, Assistant Director of the Social Services Office Md. Zulfikar Ali, Md. Mizanur Rahman, Disability Affairs Officer Dr. Anisur Rahman, teachers from autism schools and various institutions working with autistic children, numerous golden citizens and their guardians, and media personnel working in various electronic and print media in the district were present. Later, the invited guests including the District Commissioner presented prizes to the winners of the drawing competition, certificates to the golden citizens, and wheelchairs to the disabled.
