An emergency meeting has been held with all journalists in the upazila to unite and organize the Ramu Press Club of Cox’s Bazar. Expressing a firm commitment to unite all journalists to make the journalism profession more transparent, responsible and dignified, the journalist leaders said in a meeting held at the Ramu Public Library auditorium on Wednesday, April 9 afternoon, – a few unscrupulous journalists have climbed into their own sugarcane heaps. Ignoring the rules of the Press Club, the self-proclaimed committee sat on the streets without any meeting and created a huge controversy. Their character is known to everyone. That’s why everyone rejected this fake committee with hatred. Everyone should be vigilant about their activities. The leaders of the united Ramu Press Club will play their usual voluntary role against these misdeeds. The meeting, organized by the leaders of two press clubs in Ramu, was presided over by acting president of Ramu Press Club, Kazi M Abdullah Al Mamun. The meeting, moderated by General Secretary Shoaib Sayeed, was chaired by Ramu Press Club faction president Nurul Islam Selim, who was the chief guest. The meeting was addressed by – Club Vice President Khaled Hossain Tapu, Joint General Secretary Al Mahmud Bhutto, Organizing Secretary (Party) Abdul Malek Sikder, Office Secretary Hasan Tarek Mukim, Publicity Secretary Hafez Muhammad Abul Manjur, Assistant Publicity Secretary Abul Kashem Sagar, Executive Members Khaled Shahid and Kapil Uddin, Members HB Pant, Humayun Kabir, Hamidul Haque, Habibur Rahman Sohel, HM Arman, Kamal Hossain, Prosun Barua, Nurul Haque Sikder, Shipta Barua, Sujan Chakraborty, Mohammad Abdullah, Mizanul Haque, Prakash Sikder, Working Journalist AHM Joynal Abedin, Quaid Alam Kaiser, Jabedul Anwar, Md. Shahed Kaiser, Zia Uddin Zia, Didarul Alam Zishan, Faridul Alam Roni, Md. Ilyas, Omar Farooq Sohag, Mizanul Haque, Md. Noor etc. The speakers at the meeting also said that some dangerous and controversial members of the Ramu Press Club are spreading confusion by forming committees to violate the club’s discipline and commit misdeeds using their self-proclaimed positions. They have already been unanimously expelled by the Ramu Press Club, a prestigious organization of professional journalists, in an emergency meeting. No one will be spared if they engage in activities that violate the organization’s discipline. The committee was formed democratically at the Ramu Press Club. Despite political differences, everyone was united professionally in the past and will remain so in the future. Journalism cannot operate at the behest of any political party or leader. The Press Club is not an organization affiliated with any individual or party. Journalists must avoid any powerful person or political viewpoint and fearlessly present objective news for the welfare of the country and the public.
In this regard, Ramu Press Club has always played a unique role, and this trend will continue in the future as well. At the beginning of the meeting, the Holy Quran was recited by the organization’s member Mohammad Abdullah. Ramu Press Club Publicity Secretary Hafez Muhammad Abul Manjur led prayers and supplications for the recovery of the ailing mother of Ramu Press Club executive member Muhammad Abu Bakkar Siddique and the wife of member Sujan Chakraborty, and for good results for SSC candidates starting Thursday.
