Former Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station in Chittagong City Mohammad Nezam Uddin has faced the wrath of BNP leaders and activists.

At that time, a leader and activist was heard saying in the regional language of Chittagong, “Bot Jalaiyos 15 bosor dhari, arare mishil goitta na dos. Arar sahadat vaiore bot hoyrani goijjos.”

He was dragged by the collar and his shirt was torn. At that time, they were expressing their anger by raising various allegations of torture during his tenure as OC.

The incident took place in front of the Panchlaish Passport Office at around 2:30 pm on Monday. During the live broadcast of this incident, two things aroused the curiosity of the city residents. One is the result of past actions, the other is the scene of a child waiting silently. However, civil society is looking at it differently. According to a source, former OC Nezam is still working in a police branch.

A law officer, who did not want to be named, said that such a public beating of a policeman is not desirable, whoever the culprit is, it should be done through the prevailing laws of the country and the judiciary.

Nezam Uddin has served as the officer-in-charge of Baklia, Sadarghat, Kotwali, and finally Patiya police stations.

Panchlaish police station inspector (investigation) Sajjad Hossain confirmed the matter. He said, “We have taken sir into custody. The incident just happened. Details will be announced later.”
