In Joypurhat Teghor High School’s centenary celebration today

1924. A century ago. Teghor High School was established. The school is well-known throughout the country. It is known as the cradle of knowledge of many famous people. It has witnessed the British and Pakistani rule as a beacon of knowledge for thousands of talented students. After that, Bangladesh. Quality education programs are continuously running. That trend has continued since the British period. Shamsul Huda secured 6th place in the Combined Board of matriculation examination in 1957 and Professor Mokhlesur Rahman secured 6th place in 1959. The school’s unique success is always the record of 100% and almost 100% pass rate in the SSC examination. It is known as a storehouse for creating an educated population. Former students of the school have taught and are teaching in various universities including Dhaka University. This school has the largest playground in Joypurhat district. The school is well known in the entire North Bengal for all its co-curricular activities including education, culture, scouting and sports. Many former students have served as senior officials in the administration and in prestigious positions. Many former students have left their mark in various fields including health abroad. This school has spread the light of knowledge to hundreds of enlightened people including the country’s eminent physicians, the late Professor Dr. Golam Maula Chowdhury, the late Professor Dr. Kausar Ahmed, Professor Dr. Mujibur Rahman, Professor Yusuf Ali Mia, Dr. Mozammel Haque, Dr. Ohidul Alam (currently residing in the UK), the late Dr. Abdul Wadud (Saudi Arabia), the late Professor Dr. Kazi Saiful Islam David, Engineer Abdur Rahman, Engineer Mahmudur Rahman. Many ministers, politicians, lawyers, writers, teachers, education officers, police officers, journalists, and athletes are students of this school. Former Health Minister Nurul Islam (Rangpur), former Food Minister Sardar Amjad Hossain (Rajshahi), senior administrative officer Haiul Qayum, former MP Mozahar Ali Pradhan, famous footballers Afzal Hossain, Abdus Samad, Abdul Wazed and Nurul Islam are former students of this school. The then Education Minister of East Pakistan Abbas Ali Khan was the Headmaster of the school at one time.
From the history of the school, it is known that it was established with the sincere efforts of the late Fulmia Mandal, an educationalist of Teghor Bisha village. He is known as Fulmia Pandit in the area. Nabi Baksh Mandal, Mumin Uddin Mandal, Madar Baksh Mandal, Kasir Uddin Mandal, Ashir Uddin Mandal and many other prominent people of the area were the pioneers in establishing the school. It is known that the first meeting to establish the school was held at the house of Nabi Baksh Mandal. The first person to donate 15 kathas of land for this educational institution was the late Abdul Latif Mandal. After that, it is known that Nabi Baksh Mandal donated a lot of land. Among the donor members were Dr. Nasir Uddin Sardar, Fulmia Mandal, Yasin Ali Sardar, Iman Ali Sakhidar, Chhamir Uddin Mondal, Yushubullah Mandal, Dil Baksha Mandal and Jashim Baksha Mondal. In 1924, Maktab, in 1928, Junior Madrasa, in 1938, Senior Madrasha, in 1943, and in 1960, ‘Teghor High School’ was established by a government order.
Academic activities are carried out with the careful planning of skilled teachers. Teaching activities are being carried out by trained teachers. The school’s Headmaster, Mottaleb Hossain Sir, said that it is possible for students to achieve good results with the inspiration and sincere cooperation of the student guardians, the board of directors and the school community. Centenary celebration committee President and District BNP Convenor Golzar Hossain and General Secretary Dewan Zahid Iqbal said that all preparations for the centenary celebration have been completed. Golzar Hossain said, “The celebration program will be a gathering of current and former students. I hope that the future generation will be inspired and encouraged by this gathering.” Dewan Zahid Iqbal said, “The main purpose of the celebration program is to create a bond between former and current students.” They sought everyone’s cooperation. #
