Lalmonirhat Police have arrested Maidul Islam, the mastermind behind the attack on a journalist while he was covering a clash between two groups of bus and minibus workers in Lalmonirhat.
He was arrested from Haribhanga Bazar in the district town on Saturday (December 21) night.
The arrested Maidul Islam is the son of Achddi from the Badiyartari area of Haribhanga in the city.

At that time, the workers’ group leader Omar Farooq Bablu was seriously injured.
Journalist Shariful Isram Ratan filed a complaint with Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station on the same day, naming four people, including Maidul, as the plaintiff.
Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Quader said that based on a secret tip-off, a raid was conducted in the Haribhanga Bazar area of the district town and the main accused in the case, Maidul, was Arrested. He also said that the operation to arrest the other accused in the case is ongoing.
It is worth noting that after the fall of the Awami League government, two groups were formed under the leadership of the BNP-backed Lalmonirhat District Bus, Minibus Coach and Microbus Workers Union. One group demanded that the organization’s old registration number (2493) be retained and the union’s workers be expelled for violating the existing labor laws by foreign workers and dual workers. The new registration process has been protested. Led by the president of the Nationalist Workers’ Party, Omar Faruk Bablu. The other side, along with Mahfuzar and Bakul Driver Gangra, along with their Awami allies, is continuing the process of getting the new registration of the workers’ union. This regard has created anger and conflict between both parties and later led to clashes.
